Field & Main Bank returns as presenting sponsor of the 2016 W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival, a four-day music festival that draws extraordinary talent and entertainment, as well as visitors, to Henderson each year. This year’s event is June 15-18 in Audubon Mill Park, along the Henderson riverfront.

Last year, the Handy Festival celebrated a milestone year – its 25th year of the festival – and was named a “Top 20 Event in the Southeast for June 2015” by the Southeast Tourism Society. It was also chosen “Best in Kentucky” in the Music Festival category by the readers of Kentucky Living Magazine.

Steve Gold, W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival board president, said the organization will build on last year’s success. “The 2016 line-up looks to be our strongest ever with a mix of famous acts, crowd favorites and impressive up-and-coming performers,” Gold said. “And we are delighted to continue our relationship with Field & Main Bank, who returns as presenting sponsor. The bank’s support for bringing world-class artists and experiences into this community reflects its solid values as an organization,” he added. “Field & Main has been a supporter of the festival from the very beginning, and it has been a healthy collaboration as both of our organizations have grown and reached new audiences.”

This year, the Handy Festival brings back Wednesday night music at Audubon Mill Park with a nod to Chicago Blues to kick off the event, followed by Thursday’s popular Zydeco night, and then two full days of blues on Friday and Saturday.

The line-up includes a variety of artists – from up-and-comers, like Nikki Hill, to headliners, including The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, and Curtis Salgado, as well as crowd favorites, such as Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band and Victor Wainwright & the Wildroots. Wainwright’s solo album debuted at #5 last year, just after playing Handy Festival.

Scott P. Davis, chairman & CEO of Field & Main Bank, said “The Handy Festival, which has deep roots in this community, really speaks to our values at Field & Main. We, too, share a passionate commitment to one’s craft and an appreciation for creating tailor-made experiences that bring community together. We’re incredibly proud to be associated with this exceptional music event."
