The year 2020 has presented many opportunities for communities to come together like never before and Henderson, KY is no different. • Our L&N Railroad bridge was constructed by engineer George W.G. Ferris, who later invented the Ferris Wheel.
• Henderson is home to the oldest continuously operating tavern in the state of Kentucky, Metzger’s Tavern was founded in 1887.
• Four Kentucky Governors have called Henderson their home; Governor John Young Brown, Governor A.B Chandler, Governor Lazarus Powell, and Governor Augustus Stanley.
• Shortly before WWI, Henderson was home to more millionaires per capita than any other city in the world. But when Great Britain imposed a high tariff on imported tobacco after the war, it wrecked the city’s export market.
